Todays stunning wedding looks like such a relaxing and down to earth event, I wish I could have been there. Captured by the talented Carly Williams, an OZ based photographer who loves to jump the ditch to shoot weddings in NZ, these images tell a beautifully honest and romantic story filled with simple elegant touches and a whole lot of love. I am smitten with the brides stunning hair and makeup, the chairs at the Indiana Tea House and the idea of their unexpected guest… a whale!
A huge congrats to the gorgeous Louisa and Shem, and a massive thank you to the clever Carly (CJ) Williams for sharing these perfect pics.
How did your love story begin?
Shem & I met 7 years ago through work & we instantly hit it off. He proposed to me last year when we were on a holiday in the South-West of WA. We had spent the day meandering around some beautiful spots, enjoying each other’s company and the sunshine (a welcome break from the rain!). After a delicious lunch at one of the local wineries, Shem proposed to me. It was such an exciting day for both of us and I don’t think either of us could wipe the smiles off our faces for days!
What was your inspiration/theme for the day?
We wanted to get married by the beach, and Cottesloe Beach has always been a favourite of ours so it was an easy choice! The Indiana has such fantastic views and a relaxed feel which summed up what we were looking for. Having a number of interstate guests it was also lovely to share with them one of Perth’s most iconic venues.
Having our ceremony and reception at the Indiana overlooking Cottesloe Beach, we already had a beautiful surrounding to work with. We wanted our decorations to complement this location.
I had collected lots of unique jars & filled them with combinations of sand, stones and blue water – which looked great against the backdrop of the ocean. We also had jars with blue and white candles which added to the romance of the evening.
The whole day was just amazing! The weather was beautiful, everyone really enjoyed themselves and it was so great to be able to have so many of our family and friends together. We did have an unexpected guest for our ceremony… a Southern Right Whale was swimming in Cottesloe Beach just 100m from shore! This just added to the already beautiful feel of the day – we named it our Lucky Whale!
What advice would you give to future Brides-to-be?
Enjoy everything! The amount of planning & co-ordination that goes into a wedding can be over whelming, just remind yourself every now and then that this is a day for you and your husband to celebrate your love and commitment to one another. It doesn’t really matter if every detail doesn’t co-ordinate – just enjoy yourself and celebrate!
