DIY FRIDAY // Rock ‘n’ Rosie makes a Valentines posy!

My gorgeous friend (and the future other half of my dream store) Charlotte Jenkins aka Rock ‘n’ Rosie, was recently asked to post for the very fancy pants Jamie Oliver Restaurant Fifteen in Cornwall. They (and the amazing Darren Platt Photography) were oh so kind enough to share it with P&L and just in time for Valentines day! I say it’s the perfect excuse to make my own Valentines day fab (and a good back up in case hubby forgets he he) xx

About Charlotte…

“I stumbled across floristry nearly 10 years ago & have been surrounded by flowers ever since. Rock ‘n’ Rosie, now based in Cornwall, came about whilst living in New Zealand. My love of art, music & travel allows me to be ever evolving and I am continuously inspired by my surroundings & experiences. I strive to use locally sourced flowers where possible when creating unique & beautiful pieces that aren’t just for weddings.”

Be creative and add a little extra love this Valentine’s Day…

Here’s my how to; using rich vibrant colours, delicately scented Cornish blooms and fresh garden foliage, create a natural bold & romantic Valentine’s Posy…

The Ingredients…

The Materials…

Step One.

Begin by preparing the jar for your posy. With fabric cut slightly bigger than the jar, wrap around allowing a nice neat overlap at the front & extra at the top to fold over. Tie fabric in place with twine and ribbons…

Step Two.

Make sure the stems of your flowers & foliage are cleaned & stripped of any excess leaves…Take the Amaryllis, add the Heather, then foliage, aiming to keep the stems facing in the same direction…

Step 3

Step 3.

Gradually build the posy stem by stem using a rose to form a focal point slightly lower than the other flowers…lastly add in the remaining greenery…

Step Four.

Once you’ve added all your flowers and you’re happy with the shape, tie tightly with the twine securing the stems together.

Step Five.

Using the side of the jar as a guide carefully trim the stems to the correct length (watch those sharp scissors!).

Add water & nestle the posy inside the jar, it should sit neatly & securely, concealing the twine.

And there you have it!
