Today’s gorgeous wedding had me hooked from the moment I saw the getting ready venue and those insanely fabulicious BM skirts (drooling over the blue skirt/white corset combo!) Perfectly captured by one of P&L’s besties Jodie C Photography, Dom & Hamish’s big day is filled with fun and unique inspiration for a stylish wedding day under $24k. Enjoy!

How did your love story begin?

It sounds really cheesy but this is actually how it all began…

We met at a New Years Eve gig and it was like the crowd parted and our eyes locked! Then the crowd gathered again and Hamish made his way towards me – and the rest is history!

Why did you say ‘YES’?

A part from wanting to be with someone who is very caring, supportive and adventurous, I’m very close with my family so it was important that Hamish got on well with them which he did naturally. But about a year in to our relationship I almost lost my sister after she gave birth to my niece and most guys in a new relationship might not have handled it very well as I was such a mess! But Hamish really stood up to the plate and his affection for me didn’t falter and he was there every step of the way including helping to babysit a new born!

What was your budget?

We had a budget between $23k – $27k but it came in at around $24k for 72 people.

What was your inspiration or theme for the day?

Our venue was at the Leigh Sawmill Cafe so it was naturally very rustic but we chose not to fully have our wedding themed that way.

Instead we chose reflective surfaces like gold and copper accents to contrast with it. Hamish is a surfer and we love being by the sea so we had a blue theme.

What were your Save & Splurge items?

Save items were deciding to have it at a venue rather than to plan it from the ground up at the family farm in Dairy Flat. It definitely took all the stress and pressure off us and family and didn’t need to worry about the clean up the next day! Our cake we saved on by having it made through a family friend.

Splurge items… wedding dress ($2k) Accomodation pre-day and night of ($800 for 2nights) was totally worth it.

What advice would you give to future brides to be?

Take as much help from friends and family as you can and be sure to thank them in your speech or in a card.

What do you love most about being a MRS?

Being Mrs Wight (which took a bit of getting used to!) Feeling solid in our relationship and not having a wedding to plan anymore haha!
