“I was away with my family at my brother’s wedding in Los Cabos, Mexico. Glenn stayed behind to save money as we were in the middle of renovating our house. I returned home from our holiday to a completely renovated kitchen, dining and living room and ‘will you marry me’ written on the kitchen splashback!”
Names Kristen Perica + Glenn Eveleigh
Venue Tarureka Estate, Featherston
How did your love story begin…
We went to high school together and got to know each other when we were 16. Our best friends were dating and we had the same group of friends. We started dating at 17, I was in my last year at high school and Glenn was doing his building apprenticeship.
Our inspiration was…
Rustic, Bohemian and D.I.Y.
We splurged + saved on…
No real splurges, we tried to save wherever possible with a lot of DIY – I made the bouquets myself out of artificial flowers from Spotlight, Freedom Furniture and California Garden Centre. Mainly peonies.
We saved on decorations – For as long as I can remember mum has been saving wishbones and I never knew what for, we ended up with 110 wish bones and spray painted them gold and added the little bows. I made the dream catcher decorations, hand making all of the tassels and using my dearly departed grandparent’s old crochet table cloth for some.
Our advice for engaged couples is…
Make sure you work out the sort of vibe you want your wedding to be and plan around that. Many people commented on how well everything was planned and that it felt very comfortable at our wedding. One friend commented how cool it was that they could come up to the bridal party table and sit and have a chat as at most weddings it feels very separate and a no go zone.
